Oak Wreath
Court of Justice Almere, The Netherlands, 2013
Oak Wreath was a temporary art work produced for the court of justice in Almere for the duration of five years. The installation was composed of a myriad brass studs usually applied on the paving in the public realm in order to guide the blind. The work makes an association with the fact that Justitia is often represented blindfolded, symbolising the fair administration of the law without favour nor prejudice. Based on the idea that the oak tree represents wise leadership and universal law, the studs formed a large wreath of oak leaves leading people towards the somewhat hidden entrance of the court of justice.
