In the historical heart of Amersfoort, a new housing block designed by Monadnock surrounds an intimate courtyard. The architects invited Anouk Vogel to design the yard that serves both as an entrance to the dwellings and as a collective outdoor space for the inhabitants. In the design, a climbing rose is allotted to each front door in celebration of the romantic side of everyday life. The entire yard is paved with a mosaic depicting giant rose leaves. These cobble stones lie on the roof of an underground parking garage situated under the yard. Large rose flowers integrated in the steel fences stabilise the structure and form an inviting entrance.
